Paul Hemann from "Dead End Express" stars in the National Geographic Channel reality docu-series.

When it comes to dog mushing, 57-year-old Paul Hemann learns from the best: his son Jeff Hemann. Paul's Alaskan adventure began back in the 1970s when he sold his Pontiac Trans-Am for a plane ticket to Anchorage, ready to pursue his boyhood dream of moving North. But before he took the flight, he fell in love, and stayed in Iowa to raise his newborn son.

27 years and many cars later, Paul has finally followed Jeff's trail to Alaska. A 7th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo, Paul taught martial arts at the highest level, and his physical stamina helps him through long dogsled rides in the wilderness. You could say his mushing skills are still improving — but his bond with the huskies runs deep.
