Paul Rhys stars in "The Assets" on ABC as Aldrich Ames.

Paul Rhys was born in Wales and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, leaving with the Bancroft Gold Medal in 1987. While there, he obtained his first major screen role in "Absolute Beginners" (1986), opposite David Bowie. Since then Rhys has seldom been off the stage and screen. His first U.S. exposure was when legendary American film director Robert Altman cast Rhys, who was then still a student, as Theo van Gogh in "Vincent and Theo," opposite Tim Roth as Vincent.

Continuing the theme of famous brothers, Rhys then played Sidney Chaplin opposite Robert Downey Junior's Charlie Chaplin in Richard Attenborough's "Chaplin," after which Rhys played opposite Peter O'Toole in "Rebecca's Daughters." More recently, Rhys starred in "Eliminate: Archie Cookson," playing the title role of a has-been spy relegated to working as a linguist in a government basement,

Running parallel to Rhys' film work has been a diverse and notable television career most recently appearing in "Borgia," Da Vinci's Demons," "Great Expectations," "Murdoch Mysteries," "Luther," "Spooks" and "Being Human."

Rhys has won numerous awards including the Critics' Circle Award for playing Angelo in "Measure for Measure" and has been nominated twice for an Olivier Award for his performances as Houseman in "The Invention of Love" and Edgar in "King Lear."
