In her role as Deena Greco on ABC's "What About Brian," US Weekly heralded Amanda Detmer as half of "TV's most compelling new twosome."
Amanda Detmer's motivation for an acting career stemmed from wanting to emulate her older brother, who was active in community theater. Amanda Detmer's first on-stage role was at Chico State, where she forgot two of her five lines. Undeterred, Amanda Detmer moved to New York, where she received her Master of Fine Arts from NYU.
After graduation Amanda Detmer worked at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, where she starred in productions of "Amadeus" and "The Importance of Being Earnest." On a leap of faith, Amanda Detmer decided to move to Los Angeles. Amanda Detmer's first major role was starring as a cop opposite Craig T. Nelson and Richard Krenna in the 1999 NBC miniseries, "To Serve and Protect," the story of three generations of Dallas police officers.
Amanda Detmer's film credits include "Saving Silverman," "Final Destination," "The Majestic" and "Drop Dead Gorgeous." Amanda Detmer has appeared on "CSI Miami" and "Miss Match," and starred in the telefilms "Picking Up and Dropping Off" and "Stolen Innocence."
Amanda Detmer recently wrapped production on the independent drama "AmericanEast," which focuses on Arab-American relations in the United States. Additionally Amanda Detmer costars in the independent ensemble dramas "American Crude" and "Jam" -- which is currently making the film festival rounds. Amanda Detmer also stars in the upcoming Lifetime telefilm, "Proof of Lies."
Amanda Detmer lives in Los Angeles with her three dogs - Lola the pit bull, Tippit the Boston terrier and Boo Radley the Pomeranian (named after her favorite character in the classic novel/movie "To Kill a Mockingbird").
