Originally from London, Ed Sanders discovered he had a love for acting when he was just 11 years old and, at 16, decided that he wanted to make his living at it. Ed Sanders knew that the life of an actor was not an easy one, so he decided to develop a skill that would allow him to stay busy in between acting jobs. His father told him, "If you want to carry on acting, why don't you get some kind of trade behind you?"
Ed Sanders spent the next three years in technical college learning the art of carpentry. During his last year, Ed Sanders studied advanced joinery, where he perfected his skills in cabinet making and other high quality finishing carpentry.
When he wasn't studying, Ed Sanders made the time to pursue his acting career -- performing in local theatre productions and appearing in several television commercials. Ed Sanders continued to work in the building industry while balancing his acting career. Often he found himself finishing a play and then returning to a building site, a practice, he says, which would always keep his feet firmly on the ground.
After college, Ed Sanders landed the lead role of Eddie Moliano on the U.K. television series "Dream Team," a drama about a premiership soccer team. Ed Sanders also hosted several television programs, ranging from dating shows to live music shows. In 2002 Ed Sanders's popularity increased when he became the host of "Fear Factor U.K.," Britain's version of "Fear Factor."
In early 2004 Ed Sanders made the move from the U.K. to Los Angeles to further pursue his acting career. Ed Sanders was thrilled when given the opportunity to join ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" design team. Now Ed Sanders will be able to use his carpentry skills along with his love of hosting.
"The icing on the cake," Ed Sanders said, "is that we get to help out some pretty fantastic families along the way."
Ed Sanders is also the host of ABC's gameshow "National Bingo Night."
