An accomplished actor who has graced the stage, screen and television, Harold Perrineau has a well-deserved reputation as a performer willing to take on any role.
Harold Perrineau starred on stage in Suzan Lori Parks' 2001 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "Topdog/Underdog," for which he won an NAACP Image Award. On the big screen,Harold Perrineau was featured in "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions," as well as "The Best Man," opposite Taye Diggs and Nia Long. For this role, Harold Perrineau received an Image Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. Additionally, Harold Perrineau received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Rashid Cole in Wayne Wang's critically acclaimed feature, "Smoke."
Harold Perrineau's other feature film credits include "Woman on Top," opposite Penelope Cruz, Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet," "Lulu on the Bridge" and Lee Tamahori's "The Edge," opposite Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin.
On television, Harold Perrineau played the wheelchair-bound Augustus Hill on "Oz." Other TV credits include a role in the TV movie "An American Tempest," as well as guest appearances on "ER," "Law & Order" and "The Cosby Show."
Harold Perrineau began his career in theatre, where he acted in a number of plays, including "Dreamgirls," the critically acclaimed "Avenue X," the Off-Broadway revival of "Godspell" and "The Love of Bullets" at the Public Theater. Harold Perrineau garnered critical acclaim in Joe Penhall's "Blue/Orange," where he starred as a young man who received the diagnosis of a borderline personality disorder.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Harold Perrineau studied music and theatre at the Shenandoah Conservatory. He also studied on scholarship at the Alvin Ailey Company.
