Hunter Ellis

has a passion for adventure that has led him to travel the world as a pilot, outdoor enthusiast, and television host. The son and grandson of Navy Admirals,

Hunter Ellis

enjoyed an exciting childhood surrounded by the smell of jet fuel and aircraft carriers. Moving from city to city every few years instilled

Hunter Ellis

with a strong sense of adventure. After graduating from the University of Southern California,

Hunter Ellis

began his flight training for the US Navy where he graduated first in his class and was selected to fly the F/A-18 Hornet, making him the third consecutive generation of Naval fighter pilots in his family.

Hunter Ellis

went on to complete two Middle East deployments in support of Operations Southern Watch and Desert Strike, and accumulate over 2000 flight hours and 433 carrier landing, with over 100 of those at night.

discovered his interest in television in 1999 while working as a technical advisor for Pensacola: Wings of Gold, which was loosely based on the F/A-18 squadron at MCAS Miramar where he spent his last 3 years in the military as a Tactics Instructor. In 2002,

Hunter Ellis

was approached by the History Channel to host the military technology series "Tactical to Practical." Always ready for new challenges,

Hunter Ellis

welcomed the opportunity to explore the military's most interesting and exciting innovations. During three whirlwind seasons his energetic spirit led him to the center of countless heart-stopping adventures.

Hunter Ellis

skydived solo with the Army's Golden Knights, flown with both the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds, and jumped out of helicopters with the Coast Guard's rescue swimmers, just to name a few.

The action-packed hit series led People Magazine to recognize

Hunter Ellis

Hunter Ellis

rappelled off 1500-foot cliffs in Peru, dove the frigid waters off of England, and climbed to the bottom of gold mines in West Africa to shed light on the most recent discoveries surrounding some the world's oldest cultures.

Hunter Ellis

's programs have been recognized both nationally and regionally with numerous Telly awards and Emmy nominations. In 2003

Hunter Ellis

received an LA Emmy nomination for hosting "Countdown to Survivor: The Amazon" for KCBS, and in 2006, he received an LA Emmy for hosting "Hola! Survivor : Guatemala," also for KCBS.

Hunter Ellis

's love of travel has taken him to over thirty-five countries on six continents, and even in his free time he continues to seek out new adventures. In November of 2006, while on a break from shooting,

Hunter Ellis

completed a 150-mile foot race across the Sahara desert because he had always wanted to see Egypt. An avid outdoorsman,

Hunter Ellis

can often be found enjoying the beaches and mountains of California training for the next challenge, living his belief that the pursuit of knowledge is best rewarded through active participation.
