Exuding an exceptional maturity both on and off the screen, Katie Holmes is a captivating young woman, landing major roles in both feature film and television.
Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Katie Holmes began acting in high school theater productions but didn't believe she had a chance at a professional acting career living in the Midwest. Fate intervened, and while attending a national modeling and talent convention in New York City, Katie Holmes met a manager who encouraged her to come to Los Angeles for television's pilot season.
Katie Holmes landed the part of Joey on the WB hit "Dawson's Creek." Co-starring with James Van Der Beek, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams, the show gained much attention in its first season and was the highest rated show on the network.
Katie Holmes recently appeared in "Batman Begins," starring Christian Bale, and the dark comedy "Thank You For Smoking, starring opposite Robert Duvall and directed by Jason Reitman.
Past film credits for Katie Holmes include Forest Whitaker's "First Daughter," "Pieces of April," "The Singing Detective," Joel Schumacher's "Phone Booth," Stephen Gaghan's "Abandon," Sam Raimi's "The Gift," Curtis Hanson's "Wonder Boys," Ang Lee's "The Ice Storm," "Go," "Teaching Mrs. Tingle" and "Disturbing Behavior."
Katie Holmes married Tom Cruise in November, 2006.
