Nick Lachey
Nick Lachey is the host of ABC's reality series, "High School Musical: Get in the Picture."

Nick Lachey

is a Kentucky native who grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Though

Nick Lachey

's original ambition was a career in sports medicine, his undeniable musical abilities led to acceptance at the Cincinnati (High) School for the Creative and Performing Arts. It was at Miami University in Ohio that

Nick Lachey

first auditioned for the vocal group that would sign with Motown records as 98 Degrees.

In 1997, "Invisible Man" became the first of a string of smash hits for 98 Degrees, assisting the group's self-titled debut album to gold status. Follow-up singles "Because of You" and "The Hardest Thing" both reached the top 5, while "I Do (Cherish You)" peaked at No. 13. Those songs propelled second album "98 Degrees and Rising" to quadruple-platinum status.

The group again reached the top 40 with its holiday anthem "This Gift" from platinum album "This Christmas"—and then hit the ultimate pay dirt. Invited to participate on Mariah Carey's "Thank God I Found You," 98 Degrees reached the coveted No. 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 and on the R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, and spent half a year on the single sales tally in 2000. The song was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

Double-platinum "Revelation" that same year, marked a more edgy sound, with the tropical No. 2 single "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)" and rhythmic "The Way You Want Me To." In 2002, the group put its partnership on hiatus with the 13-track "Ninety-Eight Degrees: The Collection," leading the group to sell a total of 7 million albums.

In the midst of the fervor surrounding the reality show "Newlyweds,"

Nick Lachey

released his first solo album, "SoulO" in late 2003, which included the romantic song "This I Swear" which was the theme song for his hit TV series.

Nick Lachey

released his second solo album, "What's Left of Me," in May of 2006. "What's Left of Me" debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The title track by the same name stormed top 40 radio as one of the fastest-rising singles of Spring 2006.

Off-screen and off-stage,

Nick Lachey

serves as spokesman for the Internet safety group INOBTR ("I Know Better").

Nick Lachey

is also co-owner of the Tacoma Rainiers, a AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.

In 2007 Lachey took home top honors in the NBC special, "Clash of the Choirs," in which he led a choir of 17 Cincinnatians to the title of America's Best Choir. Currently

Nick Lachey

is at work on his third solo album, and is developing and executive-producing a series for MTV set in his alma mater, The School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati.
