Niecy Nash stars as Rhonda on FOX's "Do Not Disturb."
At five years old, Niecy Nash was sitting in her grandmother's living room when she saw an elegant black actress grace the television screen. The sight of the luminous Lola Falana inspired Niecy Nash to decide "I'm gonna be fabulous and be on TV!" And that is exactly what she has done, picking up the nickname "Lola" along the way. Though born in Los Angeles, Niecy Nash has never considered herself an "L.A. girl." After spending much of her childhood in St. Louis, Niecy Nash returned to Los Angeles on the quest to become a performer.
Currently, Niecy Nash stars simultaneously in two successful TV projects. Niecy Nash is the host of the Style Network's No. 1 rated program, the home makeover show "Clean House," for which she has been honored with the 2007 Gracie Allen Award for Outstanding Program Host by the American Women in Radio & Television. Additionally, Niecy Nash stars as the no-nonsense Deputy Raineesha Williams on the comedy series "Reno 911!," a half-hour unscripted spoof of "Cops."
Niecy Nash majored in theater at California State University Dominguez Hills, where she graduated with more than a bachelor's degree. Niecy Nash had a husband and a baby, and she was on a mission! Determined to make a name for herself, Niecy Nash made the fateful decision to call a casting director she had auditioned for months earlier. When he answered the phone, she said, "I don't know if you remember me. My name's Niecy Nash. I'm broke, I've got a baby, and I need a job." After asking her to audition for a film he was casting, Niecy Nash landed her first paid acting gig in a scene opposite Whoopi Goldberg in the feature film "Boys on the Side." Additional film credits for Niecy Nash include Robert Altman's "Cookie's Fortune" opposite Glenn Close, Julianne Moore and Liv Tyler; "The Bachelor" with Chris O'Donnell; and "Malibu's Most Wanted" alongside Jamie Kennedy, Anthony Anderson and Taye Diggs.
Niecy Nash recently appeared in the films "Code Name: The Cleaner" opposite Cedric the Entertainer and Lucy Liu; and "Guess Who" opposite Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher. Niecy Nash's upcoming films include "Not Easily Broken," which is based on the best-selling book by Bishop T.D. Jakes; two Disney projects scheduled for release in 2009: "G-Force" produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and "The Proposal" opposite Sandra Bullock.
Niecy Nash's style, humor and quick wit garnered her a stint as a correspondent on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Additional television credits include a recurring role on "The Bernie Mac Show" as "Benita," the uproarious baby sister. Other roles include "Presidio Med," "That's Life," "Popular" and "City of Angels." Niecy Nash has had guest-starring roles on "My Name Is Earl," "Monk," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Girlfriends," "NYPD Blue," "That's So Raven," "One on One," "Judging Amy" and "Reba."
Niecy Nash made her animated series debut on "Kid Notorious" and was lauded for her voice work as "Tollie Mae" on the series. Niecy Nash has gone on to lend her distinctive voice to characters on the animated series "The Boondocks" and "Minoriteam," and recently starred as the voice of "Mrs. Boots" on the animated series "Slacker Cats." Niecy Nash also voices the character of "Miss Yelp" in the animated feature "Horton Hears a Who" with Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell.
In 2007, Niecy Nash was named a recipient of the National Woman in the Arts Award from the St. Louis Grand Center. Niecy Nash is not only a successful actress, but is also a mother. Her three children have been included in every step of her struggle in show business and have accompanied her on countless auditions and callbacks. Niecy Nash proudly identifies motherhood as her greatest success in life.
Niecy Nash is developing various television and film projects through her own production company, Next In Line. In her spare time, Niecy Nash is devoted to her church and participates in charitable functions that support causes close to her heart, including HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness, breast cancer, school violence and domestic abuse.
Niecy Nash lives in Los Angeles with her family.
