Piers Morgan is one of the contestants on NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice."
Piers Morgan is best known to Americans as the mean judge on "America's Got Talent," but before he was named to the panel for one of NBC's highest ranked shows, Morgan appeared in the UK alongside Simon Cowell as a judge on "Britain's Got Talent" for ITV.
Piers Morgan studied journalism at Harlow College, beginning his career in local south London newspapers. A former editor of the London Daily Mirror, Piers Morgan was arguably the best-known national newspaper editor since his good friend Kelvin MacKenzie edited the Sun in the 1980s. Piers Morgan became editor of the News of the World at the age of 28 -- the youngest national newspaper editor for more than 50 years. Two years later, Piers Morgan was recruited to edit the Daily Mirror. During this time, Piers Morgan was responsible for breaking several high-profile stories and also became close friends with Princess Diana. In 2006, Piers Morgan launched "First News," the first weekly newspaper for children that endeavors to educate them on social and political issues in a language they can understand.
Before appearing on "Britain's Got Talent," Morgan presented shows for BBC1 including "You Can't Fire Me, I'm Famous" and two series of "Tabloid Tales." Additionally, Piers Morgan hosted a three-part series "The Importance of Being Famous" and the one-hour documentary "The Death of Celebrity." Piers Morgan co-hosted the current affairs show "Morgan & Platell" and, his book, "The Insider, Private Diaries of a Scandalous Decade", became an instant No. 1 bestseller. His sequel, "Don't You Know Who I Am? Insider Diaries of Fame, Power and Naked Ambition" is out now.
Piers Morgan also served as a contestant in a celebrity version of the U.K.'s "The Apprentice" which raised money for Comic Relief. Piers Morgan's latest project will be co-judging "Britain's Got Talent" with Simon Cowell, which premieres on ITV in June 2007. Piers Morgan also created "The Pride of Britain Awards," in which high-profile celebrities and royals honor ordinary citizens for doing extraordinary and/or heroic things.
