Victor Garber also starred as Jack Bristow in ABC's hit spy drama, "Alias," a role that earned him Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Altogether Victor Garber has been nominated for six Emmys for his work on television.
One of Victor Garber's most notable film roles to date is his charismatic performance as the architect of the ill-fated ship in "Titanic," starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Also on the big screen Victor Garber performed opposite Goldie Hawn in "The First Wives Club," Tom Hanks in "Sleepless in Seattle" and Reese Witherspoon in "Legally Blonde." Victor Garber will next be seen as Mayor George Muscone in Gus Van Sant's "Milk," opposite Sean Penn.
Victor Garber's numerous television credits include FOX's courtroom drama "Justice"; Richard Benjamin's "Laughter on the 23rd Floor"; the ABC miniseries "Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows," in which he was nominated for an Emmy Award; "Meredith Wilson's The Music Man"; the role of Daddy Warbucks in ABC's musical version of "Annie," with Kathy Bates; "Invisible Child," opposite Rita Wilson; "External Affairs"; and the role of Inspector Philip Millard in the Criminal Instinct Mysteries "Love and Murder," "Deadly Appearance," "The Wandering Soul Murders" and "A Colder Kind of Death," all based on the novels of Gail Bowen. Victor Garber also performed in ABC's "The Wonderful World of Disney" film, "Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella," and "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," opposite Meredith Baxter. Victor Garber received Gemini Award nominations for his performances in the miniseries "Dieppe" and the TV movie "First Circle," and Emmy nominations for his guest appearances on "Frasier" and "Will and Grace." Victor Garber will also be seen in the upcoming NBC miniseries "The Last Templar," opposite Mira Sorvino.
Victor Garber's stage performances are legendary: he has earned four Tony nominations for his work in "Damn Yankees," "Lend Me a Tenor," "Deathtrap" and "Little Me." Victor Garber performed in the workshop of Sondheim's "Wiseguys" with Nathan Lane, directed by Sam Mendes, and with Alan Alda and Alfred Molina in the Tony-winning "Art," which moved to Los Angeles following its run at Broadway's Royale Theatre. Victor Garber's numerous stage credits also include the original Broadway casts of "Arcadia," "The Devil's Disciple," "Noises Off" and "Sweeney Todd." Victor Garber recently starred in "A Little Night Music" at the Music Center in Los Angeles. Over the past year, Garber has garnered rave reviews in Sondheim's "'Follies' for City Center Encores!," directed by Casey Nicholaw, and Noel Coward's "Present Laughter" at the Huntington Theatre, directed by Nicholas Martin.
Victor Garber began acting at the age of 10 in children's productions at the Grand Theatre in his hometown of London, Ontario, Canada. At 16 Victor Garber moved to Toronto, where he joined the singing group The Sugar Shoppe, who were featured on the Ed Sullivan and Johnny Carson shows. One of his first film roles was for director George Bloomfield in CBC's "Paradise Lost." Soon after, Victor Garber landed the role of the hippie-Messiah in the Toronto production of "Godspell," a role he would later reprise in the musical film version.
