Pete Bethune from "Whale Wars" is the Ady Gil Captain and a member of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in the Animal Planet reality docu-drama.
Pete ("Whale Wars") has worked for the Earthrace Charitable Trust since January 2005. He skippers Earthrace on its tour around the world to promote biodiesel and renewable fuels.

He is also keen to promote positive measures that everyday people can make to reduce their environmental impact, not just in transport fuels, but in many areas of their lives. His goal is to see the Earthrace boat and crew become a positive promotion for change.
Pete graduated from Waikato in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science (Applied Mathematics); University of Auckland in 1995 with a Diploma in Commerce (Marketing); University of Auckland in 1990 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical); and Macquarie in 1987 with a Master of Business Administration.
