Philip H. Hurley, a native of Denison, Texas, is President and General Manger of Max Media of Texas and KYTX/Channel 19 for Tyler/ Longview/ Nacogdoches. Philip Hurley organized the company and built the station, signing on the air in 2004.
Philip Hurley, born September 22, 1948, graduated from Denison High School in 1967. Philip Hurley attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing, with honors, from the University of Texas at Austin in 1971.
Prior to organizing Max Media of Texas, Philip Hurley served as Vice President and General Manager of Nexstar Broadcasting's NBC affiliate for Beaumont/Port Arthur. From 2001 through 2002, Philip Hurley served as President of Max Media of Montana, a group of four ABC stations and one NBC station in Montana with headquarters in Missoula, Montana. Prior to that, Philip Hurley served as Vice President and General Manager of Communications Corporation of America stations in Tyler-Longview, Texas, including KETK, NBC-Nacogdoches; KFXK, Fox-Longview; KLPN, UPN-Longview; and KWTL, Warner Brothers-Tyler. Philip Hurley organized and built KETK and KLSB NBC stations in Tyler and Nacogdoches and later sold them to Max Media in 1997, remaining with the stations through 2000. Philip Hurley also served as General Manger for KLTV from 1983 until 1986.
Philip Hurley began his career in 1971 at Southwestern Bell Telephone, where he held several top management positions with the giant telephone company. In 1979, Philip Hurley transferred to Interfirst Bank, where he served as Senior Vice President for five years. Philip Hurley currently serves on the Boards of the Tyler Independent School District Foundation, East Texas Foodbank, United Way of Texas and the East Texas State Fair. Philip Hurley is a member of The Order of the Rose and Green Acres Baptist Church.
