Playback from "The X Factor 2012" is one of top 24 acts in Season 2 of the FOX reality singing competition series. The newly formed group is comprised of five teenage guys who originally auditioned as solo artists: Austin Corini (age 17, from Gilroy, California), Brandon Hassan (age 16, from Irving, Texas), Johnny Maxwell (age 16, from Castro Valley, California), Josh Metzler (age 16, from Gilbert, Arizona) and Owen Stuart (age 17, from Charlotte, North Carolina).

Playback ("X Factor") is competing in the groups category under the mentorship of judge Simon Cowell. They performed "Rich Girl" by Hall & Oates during boot camp at the judges' homes.
