Rachel Melvin as Chelsea Benson on "Days of our Lives"
Prior to "Days of Our Lives," Rachel Melvin's professional credits include numerous national commercials and co-starring roles on ABC's "8 Simple Rules" and The WB's "Jack and Bobby." Rachel Melvin's recent film credit includes a lead in the independent film "Boo." Rachel Melvin has been involved in numerous musical theater productions and received superior reviews at the Clear Lake Drama Festivals in Group Acting, Improv, Mime, Storytelling and Lip Sync. Rachel Melvin was also a National Finalist for the "Teen Choice Awards" representative contest and choreographed the Mountain Pointe Dance Company concerts in Arizona. Rachel Melvin is a former member of the Southwest Valley Youth Orchestra where she studied and played violin.
Fate played a hand when Rachel Melvin was deciding whether to pursue an acting career. While visiting a Phoenix casino. Rachel Melvin won a Bingo game and just enough money to cover acting classes. Rachel Melvin saw this as a sign and began to fly to Los Angeles every weekend to study at the Scott Sedita Studios in Hollywood. Rachel Melvin even passed up a full scholarship to Arizona State University to follow her dream.
Rachel Melvin credits Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp as her idols. "They never do the same thing; they take on new challenges with every role and really showcase their talent," Rachel Melvin said. "I also love the period pieces!" Rachel Melvin also lists Julia Roberts, Brittany Murphy and Rachel McAdams among her favorites as well.
Rachel Melvin enjoys art, specifically ceramics, drawing and scrap booking. Rachel Melvin also enjoys creative writing, swimming, rollerblading, cooking. Rachel Melvin lives in Los Angeles with her 2 dogs, Riley and Cali, a yellow lab and golden retriever. Rachel Melvin's birthday is February 9.
