"Ramsay Behind Bars" is a reality series on BBC America starring Gordon Ramsay, who is going to a U.K. prison to attempt the impossible — make offenders pay their way.

It costs taxpayers a fortune to keep criminals in prison — over £3 billion a year. In a time of recession and budget cuts, this money has to be found at the expense of schools and hospitals. In this explosive new series, Gordon will be locked up in the infamous Brixton Prison. He'll attempt to teach the toughest prisoners to cook and sell their food to the outside, through a catering company within the prison. Having witnessed how incarceration shaped his brother, Gordon will now experience what life is actually like behind bars. There's a host of forces arranged against him: prison bureaucracy, the unreliable workforce, skeptical retailers and above all — persuading the British public to eat food made by inmates.

The series lifts the lid on the unknown world of prison life, while revealing an ambitious solution to one of the biggest social problems facing the U.K. today.
