Raoul Bova grew up swimming competitively and first gained noticed on the long-running Italian television series "La Piovra" and later on his own miniseries "Ultimo" and "Francesco." On the big screen Bova has played the son of Sophia Loren and Giancarlo Giannini in Lina Wermuller's "Francesca y Nunziata." He also starred opposite Giovanna Mezzorgiono in Fersan Ozpetek's award winning drama "Facing Windows."
Bova's first English-language production was opposite Madeline Stowe and Sylvester Stallon in "Avenging Angel," but recent film audiences will recognize him from his appearance opposite Diane Lane in "Under The Tuscan Sun." Bova also appeared in the 2004 sci-fi thriller "Alien vs. Predator."
