Rex Linn stars in "CSI: Miami" on CBS as Detective Frank Tripp.

A native of Spearman, Texas, Rex Linn has had a passion for acting for as long as he can remember. His fascination with monster movies starring Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jr., and westerns, starring Clayton Moore, Guy Williams and John Wayne, would later inspire his insatiable desire to be an actor. After earning a B.A degree in radio, television, and film from Oklahoma State University, he found a job with an oil company and eventually landed in banking, where he became the vice president of his branch. It was shortly after that when, in the middle of processing a loan for a young man who was talking about how his loan was going to help him fulfill his lifelong dream, Rex Linn went into his boss's office and turned in his resignation. Although he was already in his early 30s, the west coast was calling and he knew it was time to pursue his dream. For years, Linn's father told him that if he wanted to be in the acting profession he would need to move to either New York or Los Angeles. In 1990, he left his job, packed his bags and moved to LA where he convinced a talent agent to take a chance on him, and the rest is history.

Rex's acting career has been nothing short of prolific over the last 20 years. In 1989 he was cast as serial killer Floyd Epps in the feature film "Night Game." However, his big break came when he landed the role of Richard Travers, the bad U.S. Treasury agent in the film "Cliffhanger," which stayed at the #1 spot in America for four weeks.

With over 35 films now under his belt, he has worked with some of the best actors, directors, and producers of our time. With his gift in both drama and comedy, Rex appeared in films such as "Appaloosa," starring Ed Harris, "After the Sunset," "Rush Hour," "Breakdown," "Jack Bull," "Ghosts of Mississippi," "Clear and Present Danger," "Tin Cup" and "Cliffhanger," to name a few. His comedy chops have allowed him to work with some of the "greats" including Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon in Neil Simon's "Odd Couple II," Steve Martin in "Cheaper by the Dozen," and Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in "Rush Hour."

His most notable television credits include "JAG," "Saving Grace," "Third Rock from the Sun" and "Snoops."

Rex Linn was born in Spearman, Texas and now lives in Los Angeles. In his spare time, he loves to cook and watch his Texas Longhorns on College Football Saturday.
