Rick Howland stars in "Lost Girls" on Syfy as Trick.

Canadian actor Rick Howland began with improvisation and an excellent acting teacher. He then spent a few years at a few universities before landing his first gig in a feature film. While at York University he formed the comedy troupe the Four Strombones. The Strombones performed in comedy clubs around Toronto for more than a decade as well as creating a very successful fringe show in 1994. Howland has hosted comedy shows as well as dabbled in stand-up comedy. He continues to perform his own brand of bittersweet rock and roll in music venues around Toronto.

Howland's Canadian film credits include a supporting lead role in "Bon Cop, Bad Cop," opposite Colm Feore and Patrick Huard, "To Catch a Yeti," opposite Meatloaf, the lead in the short film "Short Tongue Freddy," and "Citizen Duane." Howland has also appeared in Canadian television series such as "The Murdoch Mysteries," "Billable Hours," "The Royal Canadian Air Farce," "Sue Thomas FBI," "Train 48," "Endless Grind," opposite Jayne Eastwood, "Traders," and John Woo's "Once A Thief." In addition, Howland has been in Syfy's miniseries "Tin Man" and TV movies such as NBC's "Jesse the Body Ventura," CTV's "Secret Santa" and Showtime's "Club Land," directed by Saul Rubinek.

Selected theater credits include "Veriété" (Volcano), "Shooting Penguins" (Factory), "A Short History of Night" (Factory), "Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" (LKTYP), "Servants of the Brain" (Bald Ego - Rhubarb 97) and "In Transit: 40 minutes..." (The Four Strombones – Fringe 1994). He has co-written a sitcom with Adam Nashman called "Rick's Life," an industry-based show that offers up the funny through Howland's own unique perspective.

As a songwriter Howland has been at it since he was seventeen. He spent most of those years practicing and writing on his own. People are still surprised to find he plays guitar.
