Roger Allam stars in "Game of Thrones" on HBO in the recurring role of Illyrio Mopatis, a wealthy magister in Pentos.

British actor Roger Allam is primarily known for his stage career, though he has also played numerous roles in both television and film. His career has seen him working for many seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company, along with several appearances at other London theaters and in the West End and the National Theatre Company. He played the role of Inspector Javert in the original, West End production of the iconic musical "Les Misérables."

He has made many television appearances in British series such as The Jury II," "The Thick of It," "Ashes to Ashes," "The Catherine Tate Show," "MI-5," "Inspector Morse," "Midsomer Murders," "Between the Lines," "Heartbeat," "The Bill," "Waking The Dead," "Foyles War," "Manchild" and "The Inspector Lynley Mysteries." He also played the part of Charlie in BBC2 comedy series "The Creatives" for two seasons.

On the big screen, Allam was recently seen in "The Woman in Black," starring Daniel Radcliffe, "The Iron Lady," starring Meryll Streep, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," starring Johnny Depp. His other film credits include "Stranded," "The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone" with Helen Mirren, "A Cock and Bull Story," "Speed Racer," "The Queen," starring Helen Mirren, and "V for Vendetta" an action drama starring Natalie Portman. Roger also has quite a repertoire of radio plays for the BBC to his credit.
