Ross Mead from "Robot Combat League" is the robo-techfor Team A.X.E. in the Syfy competition series. His teammate is robo-jockey Andrew Montanez. Mead is a USC computer science PhD research fellow who currently lives in Los Angeles, California. He is originally from Edwardsville, Illinois.

Ross Mead is a star student at USC's Viterbi School of Engineering. The super-intelligent computer science PhD research fellow develops autonomous robots that understand and use body language in social interactions with people. Ross has been involved in robotics competitions since 2000 and has no problems butting heads with anyone — he's cold, calculating, and will do whatever it takes to weigh the odds in his favor. The proof is in the slew of first place finishes and awards he's won in competitions across the county. When he isn't competing, Ross serves as a mentor to kids, teaching robotics to students in kindergarten all the way up to 12th grade, all around the world. He has a great sense of humor and a very healthy respect for the robotics community. Ross' research in sociable robotics paves the way toward a world in which robots will work alongside and assist humans in their everyday lives.
