Rotimi Akinosho stars in "Boss" on Starz as Darius Morrison, an enterprising and ambitious young man. The role marks his acting debut.

Rotimi Akinosho came to an open audition in March 2011 in Chicago for the role and from his first reading, captivated series creator Farhad Safinia and director Gus Van Sant with his naturalness in front of the camera and his ease at handling complex dialogue. What was startling to the filmmakers was that they discovered his "Boss" audition was Akinosho's first acting audition.

Born and raised in New Jersey, 22-year-old Akinosho is driven by his passion for music. By the age of 15, Akinosho wowed the historically brutal Apollo Theatre crowd, singing his way to first place on "Amateur Night."

With academic ambitions, Akinosho moved to the Midwest where he studied at Chicago's prestigious Northwestern University and graduated in June 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications and a minor in business.

Armed with his promising talent and tireless work ethic, the budding artist was set to stake his claim in the music industry. To date, Akinosho has performed on BET's hit show "106 & Park" as a spotlight act, and he has shared the stage with "America's Best Dance Crew" popular dance team, Jabbawockies. He has opened for artists such as T.I., Estelle and N.E.R.D. He has also performed at the 2010 BET Awards PreParty in Los Angeles.
