Sahr Ngaujah stars in "Last Resort" on ABC as Mayor Julian Serrat.

Sahr Ngaujah has worked as an actor and director between the U.S. and Europe for over fifteen years. He has thrived especially on the stage, where he starred as real-life activist and Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti in Broadway's and the West End's "Fela!" for which he was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical both at the Tony Awards in New York and the Olivier Awards in London.

On the silver screen, Ngaujah has been featured in Magnolia Pictures' "The Signal," Screen Gem's "Stomp the Yard," opposite Columbus Short, Meagan Good and Ne-Yo, and "Blood Done Sign My Name," which is about a racially-charged murder. On television, Ngaujah played a recurring role in the comedy series "House of Payne" and was seen in several movies, including TNT's "Passing Glory," starring Andre Braugher, and HBO's "A Lesson Before Dying" with Don Cheadle.

Other artists and directors with whom Ngaujah has worked include Freddie Hendricks, Gerrit Timmers, Del Hamilton (7 Stages theater), Faulk Richter, Tim Habeger (PushPush Theater) and Sierra Leone in their hip hop act, Bajah + The Dry Eye Crew.

Ngaujah is a graduate of DasArts Amsterdam, where he studied dance as well as theater, soaking up instruction in Classical, Modern, African, and Hip Hop. Ngaujah became involved in theater at Tri-Cities Visual and Performing Arts High School in East Point, Georgia, near Atlanta. He studied with the Freddie Hendricks Youth Ensemble of Atlanta, a hub for international theater. As an adult, he lived in Holland for eight years, directing theater at DasArts.

He is the son of a father from Sierra Leone and an American mother.
