Sal Vulcano is a comedian who belongs to The Tenderloins sketch comedy troupe, formed in 1999 by him and three of his high school friends: James Murray, Joe Gatto and Brian Quinn. The troupe's first foray into comedy was through improvisation. Trained in the teachings of Del Close and Charna Halpern, The Tenderloins began doing Long Form Improv in 2000, followed by live sketch comedy shows soon thereafter. They have performed at venues and festivals in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, as well as at the San Francisco Sketch Comedy Festival and the Miami Improv Festival.
The Tenderloins' comedic sketches have wracked up millions of cumulative views on websites such as YouTube, MySpace, Metacafe and more. In 2007 they won the $100,000 grand prize in NBC's "It's Your Show" competition, hosted by Carson Daly, for their viral sketch "Time Thugs."
