Sam McMurray stars in "Cristela" on ABC as Trent.

A self-proclaimed "Greenwich Village Idiot," Sam McMurray grew up in the theater world and after college became a dues paying Equity member. He has several New York theater credits, including "Translations," "A Soldier's Play," "Savage in Limbo," "The Taking of Miss Janie," "Kid Purple," "Comedians" and "Gray Spades." He is a long-time member of Ensemble Studio Theater and a veteran of many summers at the Eugene O'Neill Playwrights conference, where he debuted works by John Patrick Shanley, James Yoshimura and Adam Rapp, among others. McMurray is also a regular contributor to the Seven Devils in McCall, Idaho. 
McMurray moved to Los Angeles in 1986, booking work immediately. Notable film credits include Joel and Ethan Coen's "Raising Arizona," starring Nicolas Cage and Holly Hunter, "L.A. Story," starring Steve Martin, "Drop Dead Gorgeous," alongside Kirsten Dunst and Denise Richards, "Stone Cold" with Brian Bosworth, "The Mod Squad," opposite Claire Danes, Omar Epps and Giovanni Ribisi, and "Slappy and the Stinkers," alongside BD Wong and Jennifer Coolidge. More recently, McMurray was seen in "A Little Help" with Jenna Fischer, "Meet Monica Velour," starring Kim Cattrall, John Sayles' "Sunshine State," opposite Angela Bassett and Edie Falco, and "Lone Star State of Mind," alongside Joshua Jackson and Jaime King.

On television, McMurray recently played recurring roles in ABC Family's "The Fosters" and ABC's "Scandal." He starred in "The Tracey Ullman Show" and "Dinosaurs" and had recurring roles in a number of series, including CBS's "The King of Queens," as Supervisor Patrick O'Boyle, Tracey Ullman's "State of the Union," AMC's "Breaking Bad," Starz' "Head Case," NBC's "Friends" and "Freaks and Geeks," "Matt Waters," "Medicine Ball," "A League of Their Own," "Likely Suspects" and "Stand by your Man."

Guest appearances include "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Grey's Anatomy," "NCIS," "Desperate Housewives," "Raising Hope," "ER," "Boston Legal," "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody," "Cold Case," "NYPD Blue," "Touched by an Angel," "Reba," "Spin City," "The Sopranos," "Yes, Dear" and "Malcolm in the Middle," among others. He also appeared in the Lifetime movies "Holiday Engagement" and "The Craigslist Killer."
