Samantha Bond stars in "Downton Abbey" on PBS as Lady Rosamund Painswick.

Known as Miss Moneypenny, a role she played in several James Bond movies, including "GoldenEye," "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "The World Is Not Enough," British actress Samantha Bond trained at England's Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

A member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, she has numerous stage credits to her name including the part of Lady Macbeth opposite "Sharpe's Challenge" star Sean Bean. In addition to "A Winter's Tale" and "As You Like It," Bond was seen in the National Theatre productions of "The Cid" and "The Ends of the Earth." After playing the Third Lady in "Three Tall Women," she went on to star opposite Dame Judi Dench in David Hare's award-winning play "Amy's View" at the National Theatre and in the West End, later repeating the role on the Broadway stage. She also played Mary in "The Memory of Water," both on tour and in the West End.

Bond's relationship with PBS's "Masterpiece" dates back to the early 1980s with productions such as "Rumpole of the Bailey" and "A Murder Is Announced." Her other television appearances include roles in "Outnumbered," "Marple: Why Didn't They Ask Evans?," "Distant Shores," "Brand Spanking New Show," "The Bookfair Murders," "The Hunt," "NCS: Manhunt," "The Bombmaker" and "NCS 2."

Bond is married to actor Alexander Hanson and the couple lives in London with their two children.
