Santiago Cabrera stars in the feature film "For Greater Glory," opposite Andy García and Eva Longoria, as Father Vega, and the HBO movie "Hemingway & Gellhorn," opposite Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen, as Robert Capa.

Santiago Cabrera is an international star on both stage and screen. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, to a Chilean diplomat father and mother who was a homemaker, he grew up in London, Romania, Toronto and Madrid. When he was a teenager the family moved back to Chile where Cabrera focused on athletics. Before becoming an actor, he originally planned on becoming a soccer player. He played soccer for three years on college scholarships in Chile and played semi-pro in London.

Cabrera trained at London's prestigious Drama Centre under renowned instructors Yat Malgrem and Christopher Fettes, whose students include many great actors, among them Sir Sean Connery and Sir Anthony Hopkins. While there, Cabrera starred in numerous productions, including "The Last Days of Don Juan," "The Strangeness of Others" and "Britannicus."

Concurrent with his final year at the Centre, he made his television debut with small roles in British television. His first role after graduating from drama school was Montano in Shakespeare's "Othello," at the Northampton Theatre Royal and in London at The Greenwich Theatre, directed by Rupert Gold. Cabrera also played Romeo on stage in London's Middle Temple Hall production of "Romeo and Juliet."

His films include "Love and Other Disasters," opposite Brittany Murphy, "Haven," opposite Orlando Bloom, and "The Life of Fish," which received a Goya for Best Foreign Language film. In addition, Cabrera was seen in "Goal! 2: Living the Dream" and starred in the lead role in "Goal 3."

His first appearance on American television was in the lead role of Octavius in ABC's epic miniseries "Empire." Most notably, he is known for his breakthrough role, in the highly successful first season of NBC's ensemble drama series "Heroes" where he played Isaac Mendez, a heroin-addicted artist whose dark, violent and apocalyptic paintings are premonitions of future events. He followed that with a critically acclaimed role in the Steven Soderbergh feature "Che" for his portrayal of legendary Cuban guerilla commander Camilo Cienguegos. Cabrera also played Sir Lancelot in a recurring role on Syfy's "Merlin." In addition, he recently made guest appearances in USA Network's "Covert Affairs" and FOX's "Alcatraz."

Cabrera grew up in London, Romania, Toronto and Madrid. Although he considers Santiago, Chile, his hometown, he currently splits his time between London and Los Angeles. In addition to his native Spanish language, he is fluent in English, French and Italian.
