Sara Rue on "Eastwick" Sara Rue and Lindsay Price on "Eastwick" Lindsay Price, Sara Rue and Johann Urb on "Eastwick" Sara Rue Pictures Sara Rue stars as Penny on ABC's "Eastwick." Born and raised in New York City, Sara Rue spent most of her childhood backstage with her parents, who were very active in the Broadway theatre community. Sara Rue's acting career began at age nine, when she was cast as Kevin Spacey's daughter and Burt Lancaster's granddaughter in the film "Rocket Gibraltar." Shortly thereafter, Sara Rue won critical acclaim for her television series debut, starring in the comedy "Grand." Since then Sara Rue has appeared as a series regular on a number of shows, including "Phenom," "Minor Adjustments," "Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane," and "Popular." Most notably Sara Rue was the star of ABC's hit series "Less than Perfect" for four seasons. Following that, Chuck Lorre added Sara Rue for recurring appearances on "Two and a Half Men" and "The Big Bang Theory." Sara Rue has also been seen in many guest and recurring roles on shows such as "ER," "Will & Grace" and "The Division." In features Sara Rue starred as Sigourney Weaver's cellmate in "A Map of the World," and appeared as a scene-stealing social misfit in "Can't Hardly Wait," alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt. Sara Rue was also cast in "Pearl Harbor" as a tough-talking nurse, and as Lili Taylor's best friend in the adaptation of Anne Taylor's novel, "A Slipping Down Life." That same summer, Sara Rue received rave reviews for her portrayal of the title character in the film "Gypsy 83." Sara Rue also played the Attorney General of the United States opposite Luke Wilson in the Mike Judge film, "Idiocracy." Sara Rue has three other indie films "in the can" waiting for a release, and is most excited about the comedy "For Christ Sake," in which she plays a porn star who falls in love with a priest. On stage Sara Rue starred at the Ensemble Studio Theatre's (NYC) one-act festival for two years in a row in productions of "The Shallow End" and "Seventh Word, Four Syllables." In conjunction with shooting two television pilots and a feature film in the spring of 1999, Sara Rue made her Los Angeles theatre debut at the Matrix Theatre in the play "The Water Children," which dealt with the controversial issues of abortion and a woman's right to choose. Sara Rue also starred in the world premiere musical "Little Egypt" at the Matrix Theatre, portraying a lovable, social misfit and star-crossed lover. She later reprised that role for a short run Off-Broadway. Sara Rue has begun producing film and television, recently selling her first movie to Dimension Films, based on an original idea of hers and her partner's. Sara Rue lives in southern California with her two cats and two dogs. Sara Rue loves to garden and play the guitar, and says that she spends too much of her free time playing poker.
