Sarah Scherer is competing in shooting at the 2012 London Summer Olympics for the USA.

It did not take long for Sarah Sherer to make her mark on the collegiate shooting scene. In 2010, as just a freshman, she won the first-ever rifle individual national championship in smallbore. She finished sixth individually in air rifle, which helped TCU claim the first-ever national championship in air rifle and the team national championship. TCU won its second NCAA Rifle Championship Title in three years when the Horned Frogs placed first in March.

Scherer qualified for London despite being only 21 years old, but the Olympic Trials in February were not her first shots at qualifying for the world's grandest stage. In 2008, Scherer finished second at the Olympic Trials.

Scherer's brother, Stephen, was a member of the 2008 Olympic shooting team at just 19 years old before he died in October 2010. Examiners determined that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both Scherer and her brother attended TCU at the time.

By winning the NCAA national championship, Scherer had the opportunity to visit the White House and meet President Obama.

When Scherer is not on the shooting range, she enjoys clay crafts and Latin ballroom dancing. She is also active in church ministries.
