Here is an interview with Sasha Foxx:
Who is your primary cooking inspiration?
My primary cooking inspirations would be my grandmothers, maternal and paternal, all past and present.
What are your favorite food
blogs (besides your own)?
I don't frequent many food blogs per se, however, I do visit Paula Dean, Food Network, and Allrecipes websites the most.
What is your favorite/least favorite dish to eat?
My favorite dish to eat is steak and potatoes with a salad. I also like cake. Most time I have to bake them myself to ensure its done the right away! The least favorite is any food that has a weird/mushy texture in my mouth.
What is your favorite/least favorite dish to cook?
My favorite dish to cook would be any kind of dessert: cakes, pies, cookies, and cheesecakes. I love baking. Then, I would have to say any kind of meat; creating a meal around a pretty piece of meat is oddly a pleasure for me. Which brings me to my least favorite thing to cook, PORK. Being raised a Muslim pork was something that I didn't get a chance to really experience.
What is your favorite go-to dish to bring to a potluck?
My favorite dish to bring to a potluck is tikka masala simmered cutlets over a bed of jasmine fried rice with ground turkey, garnished with a cucumber and tomato greek yogurt. Not only is it a good, solid dish that will travel well, but most people have never experienced Indian or Thai cuisine. It's always a HIT!! Peach cobbler is quick and easy to prepare and is good hot or cold and travels well.
What is your favorite/least favorite type of cuisine and why?
My favorite type of cuisine would be Southern, just because that's what I was raised eating. I also enjoy South American, Middle Eastern and Italian to name a few others. My least favorite type of cuisine is Ethiopian. I don't like the spices.
What travel destinations have you either been to or want to travel to for food inspiration?
I would like to tour Europe and South America as a place to be inspired by their cuisine and also let those other cultures experience the "Sasha Sauce."
What are your top 3 songs to cook to?
"I Want to Say Thank You" by Alicia Myers, any song by Prince, and any song by Etta James.
Why did you want to be a contestant?
I wanted to be a contestant on "MasterChef" to share my vision of "Southern Fusion Cuisine." I believed I had the skills to compete on such a national level, also hopeful that this opportunity will help my food dreams to own a restaurant.
What is your favorite comfort food?
My favorite comfort food is rib eye steak, seared or barbecued with potatoes, salad and Texas toast.
Pick 3 words that define what meals with friends and family mean to you.
Love, excitement, comedic.
