Seth Jaffe from "Relapse" is one of the sober coaches on the A&E reality docu-series.

Seth Jaffe ("Relapse") grew up in Queens, New York in a working class neighborhood.

As a youth Seth was attracted to the kids who broke the rules, didn't listen to their teachers, cut classes and basically lived an antisocial life. This antisocial road that Seth took led him to drugs at an early age. Seth's early years were filled with heroin addiction, criminality, and incarceration. He has broken both arms and legs, and has been shot over a drug deal gone bad, as a result of his addiction.

According to Seth, "I was lazy and took what I thought was the easier way which turned into the hardest road I could have taken. I was thrown out of every school I went to, finally being thrown out of High School at 16, never to go back again."

In spite of all this craziness and drug use Seth went on to work in the music industry, working in recording studios, in the Billboard Magazine chart department, writing and producing songs all while using and fighting his heroin addiction. "I sold all the underground papers at Woodstock festival, studied acting at the HB studios in the West Village, sold drugs in Boulder, Colorado, culminating in getting arrested in 1971 which led to me going to jail and then to a work camp." When released Seth returned to shooting heroin until December 1972 when he voluntarily went to treatment for 2 years. After treatment Seth continued to use drugs other than heroin and thought he was ok because he was a "functioning addict." Beginning in 1985 Seth served 34 months in a federal penitentiary for crimes committed during his heroin addiction. In 1997, Seth found recovery and has been clean ever since.

Seth Jaffe is a sober coach and was a working actor for more than 20 years.

"Those who believed in me,
when I no longer believed in myself,
Those I cannot thank enough,
In this lifetime or the next."
