Sonya Jones from "Biggest Loser 2014" is one of the contestants featured in Season 16 of the NBC reality weight-loss competition series. She is a physical education teacher and coach from Springfield, Illinois.

Sonya Jones says her biggest motivation for going on "The Biggest Loser" is to lose weight, get healthy and feel good about herself. Though she's been overweight her whole life, finding out recently that she was borderline diabetic was a real wake-up call. Jones was born in Springfield, Illinois, and grew up an only child in nearby Litchfield, Illinois. She was a fast-pitch softball player at Greenville College, where she received a bachelor's degree in physical education. Jones played two years of semi-pro softball and was invited to try out for two professional teams. She was an All-American two consecutive years, was named the All-American Player of the Year, and was the first person to hit a ball out of the park at her college.

Now 39 years old and 283 pounds, Jones is a physical education teacher and coach. She thinks genetics, a poor diet and a lack of self-control with eating led to her weight gain. Currently, Jones has mild sleep apnea, high cholesterol, diverticulosis, arthritis in her lower back and borderline high blood pressure. She has never been in a long-term relationship and hopes enter into one once she loses the weight. She also looks forward to everything from being able to comfortably bend over to tie her shoes to jogging and traveling more, as well being a good role model as PE teacher to the kids in her district.
