Stacy Poitras from "Chainsaw Gang" stars in the CMT reality docu-series. He is a chainsaw carver and the owner of Deadwood Tree Sculptures.

Raised in Plymouth, Massachusetts, Stacy Poitras is a natural born artist who sold his first work of art in second grade. He attended the prestigious school of the Museum of Fine Arts for two and a half years in Boston, where he majored in painting.

After seeing an artist from Minnesota create a bear out of a log with a chainsaw, he went home and started sculpting. He now carves deadwood trees sculptures that are both beautiful and functional. Creating such lifelike art with a chainsaw borders on the magical. To Poitras, it's a job skill he's polished over two decades. He chose the chainsaw because as an impatient young man, he found that a hammer and chisel just took too long.

Stacy says, "I am a real artist — I can sculpt, paint, draw and play music with either hand — I'm ambidextrous." Stacy describes himself as "hyper-sensitive with a near-photographic memory". Stacy feels that chainsaw carving is the perfect job for him because he loves that he's his own boss and he loves the danger and he loves to make art. He says that when he's working, "I see myself from a third party perspective. I'm a vessel that this cool stuff is flowing through. It's pretty cool to watch ... and it gives me big muscles."

Stacy brought his friend, Rio, into the business a few years back — they share heavy equipment, tools, beer and a love for the art. They also share a friendly rivalry — Stacy claiming that he is a far better carver, favoring a "realistic style" which he considers superior to Rio's carving, which he describes as "cartoony." Stacy has been with his girlfriend, the actress and director, Alison Eastwood, for three years.
