Sterling Anderson is Jack Hoffman's grandson, and his time on site is his first real experience with gold mining. He recently graduated from high school and is planning to attend college in a year, but is also learning a lot of life lessons on-site at the mine. About a month before he went home from his first time on the site, he was working late at night on an excavator
and he was digging out a trench. He couldn't help but think he had grown from a boy to a man over those five months because Todd decided to give him the trust to operate a huge piece of machinery in the dark.
Sterling is an avid basketball player and hopes to play in college; he's also an all-state water polo player. He plays guitar and has a keen interest in golf. His goal is to become a public school administrator and help the school system get back on its feet in Oregon.
