Sue McGrew from "Sand Masters" stars in the Travel Channel reality series.

Sue McGrew stumbled upon sand sculpting while playing at the beach in Tacoma, Washington, when she was 17 years old. A sand sculptor noticed Sue's enthusiasm and taught her to compact sand like a professional. She instantly fell in love with the art and a year later, attended her first sand festival in Zeebrugge, Belgium. While there, she had her first glimpse into the life of a professional sand sculptor and started her network of friends from around the world. Through 2008, McGrew juggled college life and sand sculpting, working in the theater department at the University of Southern California during the academic year and leaving the summer months open for the exciting life of a sand artist. McGrew has carved in Europe, competed in both the U.S. and Canada competitions and even appeared on Travel Channel's show "Sand Blasters: Extreme Sand Sculpting."

Today, her art takes her all over the world to sand festivals both big and small and has even spilled over into the realm of ice carving. McGrew's recent awards in competition are second place solos at Port Angeles, Washington, Invitational 2010, third place solos at Revere Beach, Massachusetts, 2010 and first place solos at Revere Beach, Massachusetts, 2009.
