Suleka Mathew stars as Bobbie Jackson on TNT's drama "Hawthorne." Previously, Suleka Mathew starred as Sara on ABC's "Men in Trees."

Suleka Mathew, who was born in India and raised in Vancouver, Canada, has worked extensively as a professional actress in film, television, radio and theatre for over seventeen years.

Suleka Mathew was shy as a child but found support from both teachers and family to pursue her interest in performing. By the age of ten, the theater allowed Suleka Mathew to blossom

and proved to be a tremendous creative outlet that sustained her throughout elementary and high school.

Suleka Mathew started more formal training at age fifteen, but it wasn't until she was in her second year at the University of British Columbia that she realized that all she ever wanted since she was a little girl was to be an actor. With the encouragement of friends, Suleka Mathew started private acting lessons again. Six months after she enrolled, her agent signed her on, and another six months later Suleka Mathew got her first paid acting job as a lead in an episode of a Canadian anthology series.

Television audiences know Suleka Mathew for her role as Dr. Sunita "Sunny" Ramen on the acclaimed and award-winning Canadian dramatic series, "Da Vinci's Inquest."  Suleka Mathew earned three Leo Award nominations for Best Actress for her role. An international hit, the series recently made its syndicated debut in the United States.

Suleka Mathew also had a recurring role, on the Emmy Award-winning "The West Wing," as well as Stephen King's "Dead Zone," and co-starred in Hallmark Entertainment's sci-fi miniseries "Final Days of the Planet Earth." In addition Suleka Mathew has appeared on such series as "The X-Files," "Stargate SG-1," "The Crow," "Highlander" and "MacGyver."

In the area of feature films, credits for Suleka Mathew include a starring role in the Sundance Festival hit, "Touch of Pink," directed by Ian Iqbal Rashid. Suleka Mathew appeared in the independent film "The Score," which was screened at the 2005 Vancouver International Film Festival, and worked with esteemed director Deepa Mehta in her romantic comedy, "Republic of Love."

Suleka Mathew performed in a staged reading of Anne Giardini's novel "The Sad Truth About Happiness" for CBC Radio. Suleka Mathew also had a part in "The Management of Grief" by Bharati Mukherjee, and "A Fine Balance" by Rohinton Mistry. Suleka Mathew was also part of the multi-discipline cast of "Shadow Pleasures," created by Veronica Tennant and inspired by the work of Michael Ondaatje.

Suleka Mathew currently lives in Vancouver.

I have finally had the "Guts" to look Sue Mathew up on the internet. I, at 62 years old am madly and passionately in love with this absolutely gorgeous lady. Of couse, my Wife of 40 years is not all that intense about he like I am. Ha!! I am a guy who gravitated to redheds until I saw her on MEN IN TREES. Now I watch Hawthorne only to see her. I too have had a bit of a crush on Suleka since "Men in Trees". Now with Hawthorne I get to renew it again. Of course, wife of 45 years, just doesn't understand all of this. But, I can dream...can't I? Jim

Is there any relationshp between Nancy Kovak and Suleka Mathew? In Jason and the Argonauts in 1963, Nancy looks exactly like Suleka.
