The Big Bang Theory
i love this show. we get to watch four individuals straddle two worlds, theirs, and the one that most of us live in. we see their struggles in both worlds, and through introductions to the parent(s), of three of them so far, we can start to see the foundations of their neuroses.
i don't see, as others apparently do, the stereotypical portrayal of scientists, all of whom apparently are male. (see sara gilbert cameos)
i don't see garbage that will turn kids off from pursuing careers in science. give me a break! how many kids are turned away from their dreams by a tv show?
steps up onto soapbox: lets leave that where it belongs - to the parents with no vision or ability to nurture their kids.
steps off the soapbox & kicks it away
i see their struggles, their pathos and their humanity i see their way of handling everyday situations. i see a show, finally, that might just send a kid to the dictionary!
if the flintstones was a 1960's parallel to the honeymooners, the big bang theory is a smart and funny, parallel for the new millenium, to the beverly hillbillies. |
