The Tiger Woods scandal erupted on November 27, 2009 when the professional golfer crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree down the street from his home and was taken to a hospital. The Tiger Woods car accident occurred at 2:25 a.m. in his SUV, a 2009 Cadillac Escalade. No alcohol was apparently involved according the Floriday Highway Patrol. His wife, Elin Nordegren, reportedly found him half-conscious and used a golf club to smash out the back window of the car to help get him out of the car. Woods was released from the hospital after being treated for facial lacerations. On November 29, Woods issued a statement thanking his wife for getting him out of the car and saying the accident was his fault but was a private matter. On December 1, Woods was cited for reckless driving and fined $164 and 4 points on his license, but he will not face criminal charges. Tiger Woods mistress: Rachel Uchitel The car accident fueled interest in a National Enquirer story that had been published only two days earlier alleging that Woods had an affair with nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel. The Tiger Woods story surfaced after they both stayed at the same hotel in Melbourne, Australia, where Woods was competing in the Australian Masters golf tournament. Uchitel's friend, Ashley Samson, said that she had told her of the affair. Although Uchitel initially denied the allegations, she later confirmed that she and Woods did have an affair. Tiger Woods mistress: Jaimee Grubbs On December 1, US Weekly reported that cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs, who had appeared on the first season of the VH1 reality show "Tool Academy," had come forward claiming that she had been having an affair with Woods since April 2007. She said that she had 300 text messages and a voice mail to back her up. The magazine posted the recording online in which says, "My wife went through my phone. And, uh, may be calling you..." On the same day, Woods announced that he would not be attending his own charity golf tournament, the Chevron World Challenge, due to his car injuries. "I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week," Woods said. "I am certain it will be an outstanding event, and I'm very sorry that I can't be there." On December 2, the latest edition of Life & Style magazine revealed that Tiger Woods allegedly had an affair with a third woman, Kalika Moquin, during a recent stay in Las Vegas. She reportedly met him at the Manhattan club Butter one night, and he would fly her out to meet him while he was on tour.
