TJ Holmes is the host of BET's late night series, "Don't Sleep."

TJ Holmes previously anchored "CNN Saturday & Sunday Morning," the weekend edition of "CNN Newsroom." Based in the network's world headquarters in Atlanta, Holmes joined the network in October of 2006 and departed in December of 2011.

On CNN, Holmes anchored numerous major breaking news stories, including the network's coverage of the tornadoes that destroyed Joplin, Missouri, the Gulf oil spill in 2010, terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India and the conflict between Russia and the former Soviet Republic of Georgia in 2008; the Virginia Tech shooting from location in Blacksburg, Virginia and the terrorist attacks at the Glasgow Airport in Scotland in 2007; and Saddam Hussein's execution in 2006.

Holmes has reported from the scene of significant news events, such as Joplin, Missouri, which suffered devastation from multiple tornadoes that made landfall in May 2011, New Orleans after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 and Chicago where he examined the cause of youth-on-youth violence there and across the country in his 2009 American Morning Original Series "Walk in My Shoes." He embedded with troops being trained to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan in the Campbell Brown Special Investigation Series "War Before the War." Holmes secured some of the first stories from the survivors of the US Airways Flight 1549 that crash landed in the Hudson River in January 2009. Holmes covered the historic first papal visit to the United States of Benedict XIV in 2008, including anchoring live from the Mass at Yankee Stadium. He reported on location when a tornado tore through downtown Atlanta in 2008 and on the campus of The University of Mississippi during the first presidential debate between Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama, in Iowa just before the caucuses.

Holmes has traveled to the United Republic of Tanzania for the Leon Sullivan Summit, a biannual gathering of world leaders. While there, he visited orphanages and impoverished communities and shared his reports with CNN viewers. He has also spent time volunteering in Costa Rica, an experience he also shared with viewers.

Holmes came to CNN from NBC11 in the San Francisco Bay Area. While with NBC, he traveled to Athens, Greece to cover the 2004 Olympics, the first Summer Games held since the September 11th terrorist attacks. He covered numerous other stories that garnered national attention, including the historic recall election of the California Governor in 2003 and the double murder trial of Scott Peterson.

Before joining NBC11, Holmes served as a weekend anchor and reporter for KTHV-TV in Little Rock, Ark. He began his career at KSNF-TV in Joplin, Mo.

Holmes contributed to the networks 2010 coverage of the Gulf Oil Spill that garnered a Peabody Award. In 2007, he was honored with the Young Alumni Award by the University of Arkansas.

Holmes graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. He now serves on the Chancellor's Board of Advisors at the university.
