Tom Goodman-Hill stars in "Mr. Selfridge" on PBS as Roger Grove.

British actor Tom Goodman-Hill was a certified teacher before a friend convinced him to move to London to play Jesus in an outdoor production. Goodman-Hill soon realized his ambition to study acting and earned his degree from the Bristol Old Vic drama school. A prolific and versatile actor, he can boast an extensive list of credits on television and on stage. Recent West End turns include Ariel Dorfman's "Death and the Maiden"; "Enron," opposite Samuel West; "Spamalot," for which he earned an Olivier award nomination for Best Supporting Role in a Musical; and "Earthquakes in London," an innovative three-hour production at the National.

A few of Goodman-Hill's many appearances in British television series include "The Office," "Waking the Dead" and "Ideal." In a 2008 British television production, "The Devil's Whore," he portrayed "Freeborn" John Lilburne, an important figure in the English Civil Wars, from whom the actor is actually descended — 16 generations previously! For PBS's Masterpiece, Goodman-Hill has appeared in mysteries and classics such as "Foyle's War," "Inspector Lewis," "Miss Austen Regrets" and "Case Histories."
