Prior to "Smallville," Tom Welling was familiar to television audiences from a recurring role on "Judging Amy." In his first big break, he landed six episodes, playing opposite Amy Brenneman in a romantic role that drew raves. Tom Welling landed the role of Kent after a nationwide search for a fresh face to play the part. Tom Welling made his feature film debut opposite Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt in the 2003 comedy "Cheaper by the Dozen." He went on to appear in "The Fog" and the sequel of "Cheaper by the Dozen" in 2005. Tom Welling graduated in 1995 from Okemos High School in Okemos, Michigan. While at Okemos he performed in theater productions. After graduation, Tom Welling chose not to go to college, but to work as a construction worker. Tom Welling currently lives in Los Angeles. When not working, he enjoys reading, playing basketball with friends and running.
