Tracy Smith is a correspondent for "CBS News Sunday Morning." She also reports for the investigative news program "48 Hours."

Her work at "Sunday Morning" includes cover stories on issues in the news, arts and culture features and celebrity profiles. She's covered several major news events for CBS, including the Sept. 11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, the Minneapolis bridge collapse, the winter Olympics in Torino, Italy and the 2008 presidential campaign.

Smith joined CBS News in 2000, and was a national correspondent for "The Early Show," co-anchored the "Saturday Early Show," and reported on breaking news and features for "The CBS Evening News."

Before coming to CBS, Smith worked as an anchor and reporter for Channel One News (1993-2000) where she reported on the rise of neo-Nazis in Germany, Yitzhak Rabin's assassination in Israel, the civil war in Southern Sudan, the war in Chechnya, the long-ranging effects of Chernobyl and the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda.

Prior to that, Smith served as a part-time reporter for KERO-TV, the CBS affiliate in Bakersfield, Calif. (1993).

Smith received three Association of Women in Television Gracie Allen awards, seven National Educational Media Network Awards, a Golden Hugo from The Chicago International Film Festival and a Gold World Medal from the New York Festivals.

Smith was born in Wyoming, Ohio. She graduated cum laude from Boston University in 1990 with a bachelor of science degree and earned a master of arts in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California in 1993. Smith lives in New York City with her husband and two children.
