Trevor Douglas from "American Idol 2015," whose full name is Trevor Douglas Haueisen, is one of the top 24 contestants in Season 14 of the FOX reality singing competition.

Trevor Douglas is a singer, songwriter and musician from Forth Worth, Texas. Although still a teenager, he has had extensive performance experience. In addition to shows at Six Flags, SXSW, and numerous local festivals, including the Dallas International Film Festival Family Day, he has appeared on Channel 47's "The Broadcast," performed at Dallas Stars and University of Texas Arlington Basketball games, and performed a two-hour Jonas Brothers' pre-show at GEXA's Heineken Lounge.

Douglas was the Judges' Choice at the Septien Showcase in June 2012 and the Best Overall at the Red Carpet Showcase in February 2014, where he was also named Best Guitarist. He is a Kenton Duty Scholarship recipient at Hollywood Launch DFW and was named Best Overall at their summer Showcase in Los Angeles in 2013 and 2014.

Douglas plays the piano, ukulele and guitar.

Here is an interview with Trevor:

When did you first start singing?

I've always been singing, but my first public performance was in my 3rd grade musical.
What role does music play in your life?

It's what I do and what I'm good at. My dad, my older brother and sister were all musicians, which also led me to want to become a musician. It just quickly became more and more important in my life till I got to where I am today.
What makes you unique?

I interact with my audience, rhythm and loop pedal, and ability to improv when something goes wrong. For example, I forgot some of the lyrics to a Hunter Hayes song while doing a preshow in the lobby before his concert at Verizon the other weekend and instead of freaking out about it I turned it into a "sing-a-long." People thought it was on purpose. They later commented on social media how funny it was when I pretended not to know the lyrics to the song just to get everyone to sing along!
Do you have a wish list of writers you'd like to write with? If so, who?

Yes — Ed Sheeran, Andrew McMahon, Eminem, John Mayer.
What are your top three all-time favorite songs and why?

"Go the Distance" from Disney's "Hercules" — It's one of the first songs I remember singing and just carries happy memories with it.

"Dark Blue" by Andrew McMahon — The piano riff he plays during the verses is just so catchy and these are some of Andrew's best lyrics.

"You Need Me, I Don't Need You," live version by Ed Sheeran — The song is already good acoustic, but when he does it live with his loop pedal it becomes so much cooler. He also has several good analogies in his lyrics. Lastly this is usually my pump song when I need to get ready for something important.
What is your strongest musical strength?

I'd say my sense of rhythm and my ability to use my loop pedal to create a backing track live while making it sound like I have a full band on stage even though I'm the only one up there.
What is your greatest musical weakness?

Sometimes I get really excited on stage, because I'm so pumped to be in front of people that I rush and make small mistakes. Also, because I use my loop pedal so frequently it can surprise people since they're probably expecting a full band.
Who are your top three favorite and most influential artists? What is it about your favorite artists that you are drawn to?

Ed Sheeran, Andrew McMahon, and Eminem. Ed Sheeran uses a loop pedal like I do and proves that you don't need to have a full band with you in order to sell out Madison Square Garden. I also really like his song writing, his lyrics, and his ability to cross over into pretty much any genre. He's just a normal dude. As for Andrew McMahon, I want to be able to write songs with lyrics as incredible as his. He's also just a really nice guy who cares about his fans. Eminem's lyrics are also just amazing. He does a great job at bending and stretching words in order to make them rhyme, and he frames words in ways that change the meaning of them. For example in the song he did with Rihanna "Love the Way You Lie" he talks about a woman he loves leaving him through a window and says "guess that's why they call it window pain." I listened to his songs for about a month straight and ended up writing a folk song, but was some of the best lyrics I've written.
If you had to pattern your career after another artist, who would it be and why?

Someone like Ed Sheeran or Eminem. They both started out with very little money, and weren't one of those people who had rich parents that would pay for anything they needed in music. They were just really good at what they did and important people saw that and helped them out. Ed Sheeran also just gigged and gigged and gigged and built up his fan base that way.
Why do you think you should be the next "American Idol"?

Music is just something that I've worked really hard on and want to be able to make a living with it and share it with the world.
