Rudy Cardenas made it into the top 24 contestants on Season 6 of Fox's "American Idol." Rudy Cardenas performed Journey's ''Open Arms'' at his Seattle audition. Simon Cowell was not impressed, but Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson more than approved, welcoming Rudy Cardenas to Hollywood.
Rudy Cardenas is 28 years old. Rudy Cardenas is originally from Venezuela and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. Rudy Cardenas recently relocated to Seattle where he joined a band called "M-Pact," singing alto/tenor. M-Pact was named Billboard's Best Unsigned Band in 1999 and Artist of the Year at the SAMIE Awards in 2001. M-Pact also won the 2005 Vocal Group of the Year by the Los Angeles Music Awards. The "San Francisco Chronicle" has called M-Pact "one of the best pop-jazz vocal ensembles in the world." M-Pact has opened for Kenny G, Sheryl Crow, Kenny Loggins, Natalie Cole, Bobby McFerrin, Ray Charles, and the Woody Herman Orchestra. Rudy Cardenas currently lives in North Hollywood, California but grew up in Denver, Colorado.
