Valerie Ponzio from "The Voice" is one of top 48 artists in Season 12 of the NBC reality singing competition series. From El Paso, Texas, she is on Blake Shelton's team.

Valerie Ponzio sang "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash for her blind audition. After all four judges turned their chairs around, Valerie chose Shelton to be her coach.

Valerie grew up in a border town in Texas, where she was heavily influenced by Mexican music. She loves country music but includes Mexican influences in her style. Her brother, Randy, taught her everything she knew, but he passed away in 2011. In 2007, she graduated from Berklee College of Music and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams. She moved back to El Paso after a year and started the band Val and the Southern Line. She is currently on the road with her boyfriend, who plays bass and sings backup for her.
