"Van Helsing" (TV show) is a drama series on Syfy.

After a catastrophic volcano eruption, the last remaining underground vampires rise up through a dark, ash-filled sky to overtake America. Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton, "True Blood"), a descendant of the legendary line of vampire hunters, awakens from a three-year coma to discover that she's not only immune to the bloodthirsty predators — but also has the ability to make them human again. With this "cure" threatening the vampire's existence and a target on her back, can Vanessa save humanity?

The cast also includes Jonathan Scarfe ("Hell on Wheels") as Axel, Christopher Heyerdahl ("Sanctuary," "True Blood") as Sam, Paul Johansson ("One Tree Hill") as Dimitri, David Cubbit ("Medium") as John, and Vincent Gale ("Bates Motel") as Flesh.

A re-imagination of the timeless "Dracula" tale, "Van Helsing" is produced by Nomadic Pictures, which also serves as the studio. Neil LaBute ("In the Company of Men") is the showrunner and writer and will also executive produce with Nomadic Pictures' Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev ("Fargo," "Hell on Wheels"), Simon Barry ("Continuum"), Dynamic Television's Daniel March ("Trapped"), Industry Works' Evan Tyler ("American Mary"), as well as Echo Lake Entertainment's Dave Brown and Zadoc Angell ("Sons of Anarchy").

Nomadic Pictures distributes the series within Canada, and Fallout Asylum and Dynamic Television distribute the series in its initial window in the United States. Dynamic Television is also on board as international distributor.
