Wanda Sykes on "The Wanda Sykes Show" Wanda Sykes Pictures Wanda Sykes stars as Barb on CBS's comedy, "The New Adventures of Old Christine." Comedian Wanda Sykes was ranked as one of Entertainment Weekly's 25 Funniest People in America. Her Emmy Award-nominated cable comedy special, "Wanda Sykes: Sick & Tired," covered topics such as politics, gay marriage, karma, healthcare, racial profiling, the pressure of being a woman and the perks of getting older. Wanda Sykes wrote, produced and starred in the series "Wanda at Large" and wrote and appeared in "The Chris Rock Show." Wanda Sykes was also seen in "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and heard in "Crank Yankers." Wanda Sykes starred in and produced the cable series "Wanda Does It," in which she tried various non-showbiz jobs, and had an hour-long cable special called "Wanda Sykes: Tongue Untied." As a performer and writer on "The Chris Rock Show," Wanda Sykes was nominated for three Emmy Awards and won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special. Other writing credits for Wanda Sykes include "The 74th Annual Academy Awards," "The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show" and "Wanda at Large." Wanda Sykes' feature film credits include "Evan Almighty," "Monster-In-Law," for which she won a BET Comedy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Theatrical Film, "Over the Hedge," "Barnyard," "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," "Pootie Tang," "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps" and "Down to Earth." Wanda Sykes' book, "Yeah, I Said It," is a hilarious collection of essays touching on life, family and current events. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia and raised in Maryland, Wanda Sykes graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampton University. Wanda Sykes' stand-up career began at a Coors Light Super Talent Showcase in Washington, D.C., where she performed for the first time in front of a live audience. Wanda Sykes currently lives in Los Angeles.
