Wood Harris stars in VH1's original movie "The Breaks."

Wood Harris landed his first role in Jeff Pollack's urban-themed sports drama, "Above the Rim," starring Tupac Shakur, Marlon Wayans and Duane Martin. Harris had his breakthrough year though in 2000, which not only brought with it a highly visible role as a footballer in the inspirational sports drama "Remember the Titans," but also a lead part in the Showtime original movie, "Hendrix," a biopic of rock demigod Jimi Hendrix. The drama paved the way for more prominent billings, and Harris continued to realize his potential with a series regular role on HBO's "The Wire," as Avon Barksdale, and a key supporting part as Dion Warner, aka Dion Element, in Richard Kelly's, "Southland Tales."

More recently, Harris had a recurring role in FX's drama series "Justified." He has also made appearances in episodes of "Hawaii Five-0," "Southland," "House" and "Numb3rs." On the big screen, he played the captured clansman, Kay, in "Dredd," starring Karl Urban, and was also seen in "The Babymakers" with Paul Schneider and Olivia Munn, "Next Day Air" with Mike Epps and Donald Faison, "Just Another Day," alongside Ja Rule, and Bill Duke's "Not Easily Broken," starring Morris Chestnut and Taraji P. Henson.

Onstage, Harris recently performed in the Broadway revival of "A Streetcar Named Desire."
