Yael Grobglas stars in "Jane the Virgin" on The CW as Monica Solano.

Yael Grobglas was born in Paris, France, but moved with her family to Israel, where her talent and passion for performing arts became visible at an early age. As a teenager, she studied different styles of dance and performed in a professional dance group. She had a brief modeling career and participated in a number of runway shows and advertising campaigns. Having realized that her true passion is acting, Yael started taking acting classes.

After participating in a few small projects, Yael was cast for the sci-fi TV series "Ha'Yi" ("The Island") for all three seasons, which made her popular among Israel's young audiences. She then enrolled and completed a three-year acting program at the Yoram Loewenstein Performing Arts Studio, while filming an additional season of "Ha'Yi" and a number of major commercials.

She has worked with some of Israel's top actors and directors in her roles in the first Israeli horror film "Kalevet" ("Rabies") the sitcom "Ha-Shualim" ("The Foxes"), the miniseries "Yehefim" ("Barefoot") and the primetime TV show "Tanuchi" ("Chill"), as well as plenty of supporting roles and guest appearances. Yael's theater performances include her role as Linda in the critically acclaimed Beer Sheva Theater production of Woody Allen's "Play it Again, Sam."

In 2013, Yael starred as America Singer in The CW's pilot for "The Selection," which was ultimately not picked up to series. Her most recent roles include the lead in the Israeli film "Glasses" and the recurring role of Olivia D'Amencourt in The CW's drama series "Reign."
