Zach Gilford portrays backup quarterback Matt Saracen, who, in the first game of the season, is unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight, in the NBC television drama "Friday Night Lights."

Newcomer Zach Gilford will make his feature-film debut starring in Larry Fessenden's "The Last Winter" and in the upcoming film "Rise," starring Lucy Liu. On television, Zach Gilford appeared in an episode of NBC's "Law & Order: SVU."

Zach Gilford is a recent graduate of Northwestern University where he starred in productions of "Equus" and "The Laramie Project."

A Chicago native, Zach Gilford spends his free time leading backpacking and ice climbing expeditions in Alaska. Zach Gilford currently resides in New York.
